Christine Shoi plays Karg-Elert's “Sinfonische Kanzone” under the guidance of Demarre McGill. German composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933) was most well known for his organ and harmonium compositions, but wrote over twenty works for flute. The majority were inspired by his friendship with Carl Bartuzăt, principal flutist with the Gewandhaus Orchestra, including the "Sinfonische Kanzone," which was composed in 1917 while serving alongside Bartuzăt as regimental musicians during World War I.
